Why Opelika? A Legacy of Industry, Innovation, and Charm

Opelika’s story is one of transformation. Once a vital railroad town known for early manufacturing, it’s grown into a hub for advanced industry and innovation. Today, global companies like Pharmavite, Hanwha Advanced Materials, Daewon America, and Golden State Foods are investing in Opelika’s future—supported by strong infrastructure, a skilled and forward-thinking workforce, and a deep commitment to sustainable growth.

With its historic downtown, welcoming community, and track record of reinvention, Opelika is the perfect place to explore what’s next for rural America.

On November 11, sessions of the 2025 Rural Renaissance Roadshow will be hosted at The Bottling Plant, a beautifully renovated former Coca-Cola bottling facility turned event center in the heart of downtown Opelika. The event center is owned by a local businesswoman and captures the spirit of local pride and reinvention that defines this city.

On a personal note, this venue holds special meaning for me. I grew up hearing stories about my grandfather’s career at Coca-Cola in Atlanta, where he wrote programs for bottling machines. After dedicating decades of his life to this work, he spent his retirement traveling across the Southeast collecting and re-selling antiques—especially vintage Coca-Cola memorabilia, from signs and bottles to clocks and lamp shades.

For me, this venue isn’t just a nod to my family’s roots—it’s a symbol of Opelika’s ongoing innovation and its dedication to preserving good, local jobs. I can’t wait to welcome you there.
